Republic- Post 5
I was having a reflection kind of day, and I really think that the Republic is best for Rome. This way no one gets jealous or can blame anyone for having too much power. Everyones' voice is heard and no one can be angry. I was dead during it, but after hearing many stories and reading many books, I am very sad that it is still not in place today.
Pompeii- Post 4
A few weeks ago I visited Pompeii. It was all very nice until we started having odd shakings of the ground and weird clouds in the sky. Some people noticed Vesuvius was looking a little strange as well. Some traveled closer to check out the scene, but I left out of fear however, and I am glad that I did. Vesuvius erupted and demolished Herculaneum and Pompeii. There are large layers of ash covering everything and many died. Rest in peace all that have died and may Mercury grant you safe passage to the Underworld.
Galley Slaves- Post 3
Today I went to my friend Titus's ship to treat his and his friends blisters from the triremes. I was almost attack by a few because they thought I was coming to hurt them, they did not realize what my medical equipment was for, but Titus fought them off. One was killed in the process...he simply did not understand what I was trying to do. But the rest were subdued, and I was able to treat them. Thank you, Titus.

Wet Cupping- Post 2
Today I performed something called wet cupping. I had a patient come in complaining of a blister he had on his back. I looked at it and immediately knew it was infected. I told him that I was going to perform wet cupping. Wet cupping is when you place a cup with a burning piece of wood over broken skin. The burning wood uses up all the oxygen creating a vacuum effect, drawing out all of the infected blood and pus in the blister. It worked quite well and the man left very happily.
Chariot Races- Post 1
I went to the chariot races today. It is my job to treat the ones who get thrown or hit off and survive. It is so sad to have to watch the injured ones suffer because of the sharp turn, also known as the "meta". They are very entertaining however. I am very grateful that the wealthy Romans pay for all the tickets because games like this are so fun to go to.
